Washing Label

A washing label (care label) is a label sewn onto textiles such as apparel and home textiles to indicate washing and care instructions, including symbols or text for water temperature, bleaching, tumble drying, ironing, dry cleaning, etc. In foreign trade, a washing label is not only a product identifier but also a compliance requirement: different countries/regions have their own labeling regulations. For example, the U.S. FTC requires care labels to be permanently attached and accurate; the EU must comply with EN ISO 3758 symbol standards and include fiber content, country of origin, etc. Usage scenarios: exporters need to design washing labels according to customer requirements or destination country regulations, including material (e.g., satin, non-woven), printed content, language (multilingual), and position (side seam, back neck, etc.). Precautions: incorrect washing label content may lead to customs detention, returns, or fines; it must be consistent with the main label and hang tag information; symbols must comply with ISO 3758 or ASTM D5489 standards; testing requirements include colorfastness to washing, dimensional stability, etc. Differences from other terms: the main label displays brand and size; the hang tag is a removable paper tag; the washing label is a permanent care label that cannot be easily removed.
