Matte Lamination

Matte Lamination is a common surface finishing process in the printing and packaging industry, referring to the application of a matte film onto the surface of paper or cardboard to achieve a non-reflective, soft texture. In foreign trade, this term frequently appears in order descriptions for packaging boxes, instruction manuals, brochures, business cards, and other products. Customers often request 'matte lamination' or 'matte finish.' Compared to Gloss Lamination, matte lamination appears more premium, is fingerprint-resistant, and scratch-resistant, but costs slightly more and makes it difficult to write on or attach labels after lamination. Application scenarios include: gift boxes, cosmetics packaging, electronic product inserts, etc. Notes: It is necessary to specify the matte film thickness (e.g., 15mic, 18mic), whether it is eco-friendly and biodegradable, and whether it affects subsequent hot stamping or UV processes; some customers may confuse matte lamination with Soft Touch Lamination, so the specific tactile requirement must be confirmed. Additionally, matte lamination may affect the saturation of printed colors, so pre-production samples should be confirmed in advance. In foreign trade contracts, 'Matte Lamination' should be specified along with samples or specifications to avoid disputes arising from gloss differences.
