Customer Specification

Customer Specification refers to a detailed document provided by the buyer that outlines technical requirements for product performance, dimensions, materials, processes, packaging, and other specifications. In foreign trade, it typically serves as a contract annex or part of an order and is the basis for the seller's production, inspection, and delivery. Use cases include: customized products, OEM/ODM orders, processing according to drawings or samples, etc. Precautions: The seller must carefully review the feasibility and cost of the specifications, clarify the process and responsibility for specification changes; if the specifications involve patents or intellectual property, infringement liability should be stipulated. Unlike 'industry standards,' customer specifications are exclusive and mandatory, with higher priority than general standards; compared to 'samples,' specifications are textual and data-based requirements, while samples are physical references. If specifications conflict with other contract terms, specifications usually prevail, but this should be explicitly stated in the contract. Additionally, confirmation of specifications should be in writing to avoid disputes arising from oral agreements.
