Folding

Folding is a common term in the printing and packaging industry. In foreign trade, it specifically refers to a processing method for paper materials such as product brochures, instruction manuals, and package inserts: folding printed sheets along predetermined fold lines to form multiple pages or specific shapes. Use cases include multilingual instruction manuals accompanying exported products, exhibition brochures, and folded inserts in pharmaceutical or cosmetic packaging. Notes: The folding style (e.g., half-fold, accordion fold, gate fold), folded dimensions, paper weight, and whether perforation or crease lines are needed must be specified; otherwise, dimensional deviations after folding or cracking may occur. Unlike 'binding,' folding only involves folding and does not include stapling or gluing; unlike 'die-cutting,' folding does not involve cutting shapes. In foreign trade contracts, sample confirmation for folding and tolerance ranges should be specified to avoid claims caused by incorrect folding direction or page sequence.
