Steel Wire Rope

Steel Wire Rope is a flexible load-bearing component for lifting, traction, and carrying, made by twisting multiple steel wires into strands and then twisting multiple strands into a rope. It is widely used in construction, mining, ports, elevators, ships, oil drilling, and other fields. In foreign trade, this term commonly appears in inquiries, quotations, contracts, and documents for hardware, machinery, and building materials products. Usage scenarios include: customers specifying diameter, structure (e.g., 6×37+FC), tensile strength, surface treatment (bright, galvanized), lay direction (right regular lay, left regular lay, etc.), length, and packaging method. Notes: The applicable standard (e.g., GB/T 20118, ISO 2408, ASTM A1023) must be clearly specified, because different standards have different requirements for breaking force, tolerances, and zinc coating weight; also distinguish 'steel wire rope' from 'wire cable' and 'steel wire'—the former emphasizes a multi-strand twisted structure, while the latter usually refers to a single steel wire or simple stranded wire. In addition, foreign trade contracts should specify the application (e.g., lifting, traction) and whether material certificates, classification society certification, etc. are required, to avoid quality disputes.
