Tally refers to the operation during the loading, unloading, and handover of foreign trade cargo, in which professional tally clerks count, check, inspect, and record the goods. Its core purpose is to confirm whether the quantity, packaging condition, marks, etc., of the cargo are consistent with the documents, and to issue a tally report as a handover certificate. Use scenarios include before loading at the port, after unloading, during container devanning, and at warehouse inbound and outbound stages. Precautions: Tallying is usually conducted by an independent third-party tally company to ensure impartiality; tally results may affect bill of lading remarks and claims. Unlike 'Inspection', tallying focuses on quantity and outer packaging rather than internal quality; compared with 'Supervision of loading', tallying emphasizes counting and recording, while supervision of loading focuses on overseeing the entire loading process. Foreign trade practitioners should attach importance to tally reports, as they are important evidence for allocating responsibility and handling disputes.
