Prompt Delivery

Prompt Delivery is a common delivery term in foreign trade contracts, referring to the seller completing preparation and delivering the goods within a very short time after the contract takes effect (usually 1-2 weeks, depending on the industry and product). Its core emphasis is on 'speed' rather than a fixed date. It is often used when the buyer urgently needs the goods, in spot transactions, or for sample orders. Notes: 1) The specific number of days for 'prompt' should be clearly stated in the contract to avoid disputes; 2) Production cycle, raw material inventory, and transportation capacity must be considered; 3) It differs from 'Immediate Delivery,' which usually means shipment immediately after the contract takes effect (e.g., within 3-5 days), while prompt delivery allows a slightly longer time; it is the opposite of 'Forward Delivery,' which means delivery on an agreed future date. In addition, prompt delivery may affect price and payment terms, and the seller needs to assess whether an expedited fee is required. Key distinction: Prompt delivery is a relative concept and must be interpreted in light of industry practice, whereas 'Spot Delivery' emphasizes that goods are already in stock and can be shipped immediately.
