Contract Inspection

Contract Inspection is a method of commodity inspection in international trade. It refers to an agreement between the buyer and seller in the contract to inspect the goods according to the inspection standards, methods, time, and place specified in the contract, and the inspection results serve as the final basis for determining whether the quality, quantity, or packaging of the goods conforms to the contract requirements. Usage scenarios include: the buyer or seller, before shipment or after arrival, entrusts an inspection agency designated in the contract (such as SGS, BV, etc.) to conduct inspection and issue an inspection certificate. Precautions: The contract inspection clause should clearly specify the inspection standards, inspection agency, inspection time, place, and cost bearing; if the contract does not stipulate or the stipulation is unclear, disputes may arise. Unlike 'statutory inspection', contract inspection is based on mutual agreement, not government mandate; compared with 'seller inspection' or 'buyer inspection', contract inspection emphasizes the contract as the standard, rather than unilateral standards. Foreign trade practitioners should pay attention to contract inspection clauses to avoid rejection or claims due to inconsistent inspection standards.
