FCL (Full Container Load)

FCL (Full Container Load) refers to a mode of transport where the shipper's cargo volume is sufficient to fill one or more containers, and the shipper has exclusive use of the entire container(s). Usage scenarios: When the cargo volume or weight reaches 75% or more of the container's capacity, or the weight reaches 95% of the maximum payload, FCL is typically recommended to save on unit freight costs and reduce cargo damage risks associated with LCL consolidation. Precautions: Under FCL, the shipper is responsible for loading, counting, stowing, and sealing the container; the carrier generally does not verify the contents. If cargo damage results from improper loading by the shipper, the carrier may be exempt from liability. Difference from LCL: LCL involves multiple shippers' cargo consolidated into one container, with the carrier responsible for loading and unloading, suitable for small shipments; FCL emphasizes exclusive use of a full container by the shipper, with freight charged per container rather than by volume/weight. Additionally, under FCL, the shipper can request door-to-door service, while LCL typically only offers CY-to-CY (Container Yard to Container Yard).
