Guarantee Amount

Guarantee Amount refers to the maximum amount that a bank, insurance company, or guarantee institution undertakes to pay to the beneficiary under certain conditions at the request of the applicant in a foreign trade contract. It is typically used in performance guarantees, advance payment guarantees, quality guarantees, etc. Usage scenarios include: bid guarantees, performance guarantees, advance payment refund guarantees, quality maintenance guarantees, etc. Notes: The guarantee amount is usually a certain percentage of the contract amount (e.g., 5%-10%), and the currency, maximum amount, and reduction clauses must be clearly specified; the guarantee amount is independent of the underlying contract, and under a demand guarantee, the beneficiary can claim directly with compliant claim documents. Unlike a 'Deposit', the guarantee amount is a bank credit rather than a cash deposit; unlike 'Liquidated Damages', the guarantee amount is the maximum compensation payable by the guarantor, not the direct compensation amount of the breaching party. Foreign trade practitioners should pay attention to the guarantee's validity period, claim conditions, and applicable law to avoid inability to claim or excessive claims due to unclear terms.
