Mounting / Laminating

Mounting / Laminating is a common foreign trade term in the printing and packaging industry. It refers to bonding paper, cardstock, or paperboard with another layer of material (such as paperboard, corrugated board, plastic film, etc.) using an adhesive, in order to increase thickness, stiffness, or achieve special surface effects. Application scenarios include gift boxes, hardcover book covers, high-end packaging, puzzles, posters, etc. In foreign trade orders, customers often specify the mounting method (e.g., mounting E-flute, mounting grey board, mounting PET film) and grammage. Notes: It is necessary to clarify the materials, grammage, and adhesive type (water-based/oil-based) of the base material and facing paper, and whether high-temperature resistance or environmental friendliness is required; deformation may occur after mounting, so temperature and humidity need to be controlled; it is different from 'Laminating Film', which covers the surface with film, while mounting is overall bonding. Difference from 'face mounting': face mounting refers to bonding two sheets of paper face to face, while mounting has a broader scope. Loss and processing fees need to be considered when quoting.
