Glossy Lamination

Glossy Lamination is a common foreign trade term in the printing and packaging industry. It refers to covering the surface of paper or cardboard with a high-gloss transparent plastic film (usually BOPP or PET), which is bonded through hot pressing or adhesive processes to enhance the brightness, water resistance, and abrasion resistance of printed materials. It is commonly used in export orders for color boxes, brochures, handbags, labels, etc. Customers often request 'glossy lamination' or 'matte lamination' as surface treatment methods. Note: It is necessary to specify the film type (e.g., BOPP glossy film), thickness (e.g., 15mic), single or double-sided lamination, and distinguish it from 'varnish' and 'UV coating'—glossy lamination is a physical film, while the latter are chemical coatings with different gloss and durability. Compared with 'matte lamination', glossy lamination has strong reflection and vivid colors but is prone to fingerprints; matte lamination has a soft texture and anti-glare properties. When quoting, confirm the lamination area, whether to leave edges, whether anti-curling treatment is needed, and pay attention to environmental requirements (e.g., biodegradable film).
