RoHS Compliance refers to a product meeting the requirements of the EU's Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive, which restricts the use of hazardous substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electrical and electronic equipment. Application scenarios: Electrical and electronic products exported to the EU must provide RoHS compliance evidence, otherwise they may be detained by customs or fined. Precautions: RoHS compliance is not a single certificate, but is demonstrated through test reports or self-declarations; the latest directive EU 2015/863 added restrictions on four phthalates. Difference from CE certification: CE represents general product safety requirements, while RoHS is a specialized environmental requirement, but the CE mark often includes RoHS compliance. Difference from REACH: REACH regulates the registration, evaluation, authorization, and restriction of chemicals and has a broader scope, while RoHS targets specific hazardous substances. Foreign trade practitioners need to ensure that suppliers provide valid RoHS reports and pay attention to exemption clauses and updates.
