Perishable Cargo

Perishable Cargo refers to goods that, during transportation and storage, due to their perishable, degradable, or perishable nature, require special measures (such as refrigeration, freezing, ventilation, oxygen supply, humidity control, etc.) to maintain their quality or viability. Common examples include fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, meat, seafood, live animals, vaccines, blood products, etc. Usage scenarios mainly involve international ocean shipping, air freight, and cold chain logistics; air freight is often the preferred choice for high-value perishable cargo due to its speed. Precautions: 1. Confirm in advance whether the carrier has cold chain facilities and route permits; 2. Packaging must comply with international perishable cargo transport standards (e.g., IATA perishable cargo rules); 3. Customs declaration requires quarantine, sanitary, and other certificates; 4. Transport time should be minimized to avoid cargo damage due to delays. Differences from other terms: General Cargo has no special temperature control requirements; Dangerous Goods focuses on safety risks, while Perishable Cargo focuses on quality preservation; Refrigerated Cargo is a common transport form of perishable cargo, but perishable cargo also includes live animals and other categories requiring oxygen supply.
