Color Streak

Color streak is a common quality defect term in industries such as textiles, plastics, coatings, and printing, referring to strip-shaped color marks on or inside a product that are inconsistent with the main color. In foreign trade, this term is often used to describe cases where goods fail appearance inspection, such as fabrics, films, and injection-molded parts showing longitudinal or transverse discolored stripes. Usage scenarios include: customer complaints, inspection reports, quality claims, and contract quality clauses. Note: Color streak is different from color shading, which refers to an overall color deviation from the standard sample, while a color streak is a localized linear discoloration; it differs from a color spot in shape, as a color spot is dot-shaped or patch-shaped. Foreign trade practitioners need to specify in the contract the acceptance criteria for color streaks (such as length, width, quantity, and position) and agree on inspection methods (such as lighting, distance, and angle) to avoid disputes caused by subjective judgment. In addition, color streaks may be caused by uneven mixing of raw materials, equipment contamination, improper mold runner design, etc., and process control capability must be confirmed with the factory before order production.
