First Piece Approval

First Piece Approval refers to the inspection and written approval by the buyer or quality representative of the first sample produced by the factory before mass production, confirming that it meets specifications, quality, and appearance requirements. Usage scenarios: commonly used in OEM/ODM orders, custom products, first-time cooperation, or after design changes; it is a key checkpoint in quality control. Notes: 1) The first piece must come from actual production molds and processes, not a handmade sample; 2) Approval must be documented in writing, avoiding verbal consent; 3) If the first piece fails, it must be corrected and resubmitted until approved; 4) After approval, a sealed sample should be kept as the basis for mass production acceptance. Difference from 'Sample Approval': Sample approval usually refers to prototype samples in the development stage, while First Piece Approval is the first finished product before mass production, closer to mass production status. Difference from 'Final Random Inspection': First Piece Approval comes first, final random inspection comes later; the former prevents batch problems, the latter controls final delivery.
