A recent study from the University of Cardiff followed over 1,000 residents in three different cities over a period of five years. The researchers found that people who lived within 300 meters of a park or garden reported significantly lower levels of stress and anxiety. Interestingly, the effect was stronger for older adults and those who visited the green space at least once a week. However, the study also noted that simply having a view of trees from a window had a positive but much smaller effect. The lead researcher emphasized that regular, active use of these spaces is key, not just their presence.
