WeChat Follow-up refers to the practice in foreign trade of using WeChat, an instant messaging tool, to follow up with clients, urge orders, maintain relationships, or advance business. Use cases include: adding clients on WeChat after trade shows or inquiries, regularly sending product updates, holiday greetings, order progress, etc.; proactively asking about needs when clients are silent; handling after-sales issues. Notes: WeChat is mainly suitable for clients with whom initial contact has been established or from markets around China; European and American clients may prefer email or WhatsApp; avoid excessive frequency, mind time differences and privacy; content should be professional and concise, and can be accompanied by images, videos, etc. Differences from email follow-up: WeChat is more instant and interactive, suitable for quick communication and relationship maintenance, but formal quotations, contracts, etc. still need email confirmation. Differences from WhatsApp follow-up: WeChat is more popular in China and Southeast Asia, while WhatsApp is more universal globally. Foreign trade professionals need to choose tools based on client preferences; WeChat follow-up can serve as a supplement to email follow-up, but cannot completely replace formal correspondence.
