Oil-Based Varnish

Oil-Based Varnish is a transparent coating that uses drying oils (such as linseed oil, tung oil) and resins as the main film-forming substances. It cures through oxidative polymerization to form a glossy, wear-resistant coating. In foreign trade, this term is commonly found in industries such as coatings, inks, wood lacquers, and printing and packaging, especially for exports to markets in Europe, America, and Southeast Asia. Usage scenarios include: product name descriptions in export contracts, letter of credit terms, MSDS, and technical specifications. Precautions: It is necessary to clearly distinguish Oil-Based from Water-Based and UV varnish to avoid customs clearance issues caused by environmental regulations (such as VOC limits); also note the dangerous goods classification for transportation (usually Class 3 flammable liquids), and a dangerous goods packaging certificate is required. Difference from 'varnish': Oil-Based Varnish emphasizes high gloss and surface protection, while varnish generally refers to transparent paint. Difference from 'UV varnish': Oil-Based Varnish cures slowly and contains solvents, while UV varnish requires ultraviolet curing and has better environmental performance.
