Quality Release

Quality Release refers to the authorization act in foreign trade transactions whereby the buyer or its designated inspection agency, after conducting a quality inspection of the goods delivered by the seller, formally confirms in writing that the batch of goods complies with the quality standards and relevant requirements stipulated in the contract, thereby permitting them to proceed to the next stage (such as shipment, customs clearance, sale, or use). Usage scenarios include: the buyer sends personnel or entrusts a third party (such as SGS, BV) to inspect goods at the factory or port of shipment, and upon passing, issues a quality release notice; or the seller obtains internal quality release before shipment. Precautions: Quality release is usually distinguished from 'shipment release'; the former pertains only to quality, while the latter may also involve quantity, packaging, documents, etc.; release conditions should clearly stipulate inspection standards, sampling methods, and handling of non-conformities; if goods are shipped without obtaining release, the buyer has the right to reject or claim damages. Unlike 'quality certification', release is a one-time authorization for a specific batch, not a long-term qualification recognition.
