Intertek Certification (ETL)

Intertek Certification (ETL) refers to the ETL safety certification mark issued by Intertek (Tianxiang Group), indicating that a product complies with North American (U.S., Canada) safety standards (such as UL standards). The ETL mark has the same legal effect as UL certification in the North American market, but the certification process is usually more flexible and lower in cost. Usage scenarios: When exporting electronic appliances, lighting fixtures, wires and cables, etc. to North America, buyers or customs often require ETL certification. Notes: ETL certification requires regular factory inspections; the certificate is usually valid for one year and must be renewed; product changes require re-evaluation. Difference from UL certification: UL is issued by Underwriters Laboratories, has a longer history and slightly higher recognition, but ETL is also recognized by NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory), and the certification cycle is shorter. Difference from CE certification: CE is a mandatory certification in the EU, while ETL is voluntary in North America but effectively mandatory in the market. In foreign trade, it is advisable to confirm whether the buyer specifies UL or ETL, and verify the authenticity of the certificate (verifiable on Intertek's official website).
