Actual Weight

Actual Weight refers to the physical weight of the goods obtained after weighing, including the weight of the goods themselves, inner packaging, and any materials directly attached to the goods, but excluding the weight of transport packaging (such as pallets and containers). In foreign trade, actual weight is often used to calculate freight for sea, air, or express shipments, especially when the cargo density is high (heavy cargo), in which case the carrier charges by actual weight. Use cases include: providing the actual weight of goods when booking space, filling in customs declarations, and freight calculation. Note: actual weight must be compared with volumetric weight, and the greater one is used as the chargeable weight; if the goods include pallets, net weight, tare weight, and gross weight must be distinguished to avoid confusion. Difference from 'gross weight': gross weight = actual weight + transport packaging weight; difference from 'net weight': net weight refers only to the weight of the goods themselves. Actual weight is one of the bases for chargeable weight, and accurate declaration can avoid freight disputes and customs penalties.
