Booking Confirmation

A Booking Confirmation is a written confirmation issued by a freight forwarder or shipping line to the shipper, indicating that the booking request has been accepted and specific space, vessel name, voyage number, departure date, cut-off time, etc. have been allocated. Usage scenario: After the exporter submits a Booking Request to the freight forwarder or shipping line, they receive this confirmation to arrange subsequent operations such as trucking, customs declaration, and container loading. Notes: A Booking Confirmation is not a Bill of Lading and does not serve as a document of title; key information such as vessel name, voyage number, port, container type, quantity, and cut-off time must be carefully checked, and any errors should be immediately requested to be corrected, otherwise it may result in failure to board or additional costs. Difference from a 'Booking Request': The request is an application sent by the shipper to the freight forwarder, while the confirmation is the reply and confirmation from the freight forwarder/shipping line. Difference from a 'Bill of Lading': The confirmation only confirms the shipping arrangement, while the Bill of Lading is the proof of the contract of carriage and document of title issued after the goods are loaded on board.
