Certificate of Quality

Certificate of Quality is a written document issued by the exporter, manufacturer, or a third-party inspection agency (such as SGS, BV) to certify that the quality, specifications, and composition of the goods comply with the contract or letter of credit requirements before shipment. It is commonly used in international trade as proof that the seller has fulfilled quality obligations, and serves as a basis for the buyer's payment, customs clearance, or claims. Usage scenarios include: letter of credit requiring submission of a Certificate of Quality, contract stipulating that the Certificate of Quality shall prevail, or import country customs requirements. Precautions: The content of the Certificate of Quality must be consistent with the contract, invoice, packing list, and other documents; the issuing agency must meet the buyer's or letter of credit requirements; the certificate date should not be later than the shipment date. The difference from an 'Inspection Certificate' is that the Certificate of Quality focuses more on quality indicators (such as composition, performance), while the Inspection Certificate has a broader scope, covering quantity, packaging, hygiene, etc. Unlike a 'Quality Assurance Certificate', which is usually a self-declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets standards, the Certificate of Quality is often issued by a third party and is more authoritative.
