Facility Reinstatement

Facility Reinstatement is a professional term in international trade finance, referring to the restoration of the used portion of a revolving credit, standby letter of credit, or trade finance facility to the borrower after partial or full repayment. It is commonly seen in scenarios such as revolving letters of credit, revolving loans, packing loans, and export bills purchased. Usage scenarios include: importers issuing revolving letters of credit, exporters revolving packing loan facilities, and banks providing revolving credit lines to customers. Notes: Facility reinstatement usually has preconditions, such as timely repayment, no default events, and submission of necessary documents; the reinstated amount may be subject to total facility limits, reinstatement frequency, and time restrictions. Unlike 'Facility Increase', facility reinstatement does not change the total facility amount but releases the repaid portion; unlike 'Facility Extension', it does not extend the original facility term. Trade practitioners should carefully read the reinstatement clauses in credit agreements to avoid funding arrangement errors due to misunderstanding.
