Form U (China-Uruguay)

FORM U (China-Uruguay) is a certificate of origin under the Free Trade Agreement between China and Uruguay, officially known as the 'Certificate of Origin under the China-Uruguay Free Trade Agreement'. This certificate is used to prove that goods originate from China or Uruguay, so that the importer can enjoy the tariff preferences stipulated in the agreement. Usage scenario: When a Chinese exporter exports goods to a Uruguayan customer, if the Uruguayan importer wishes to obtain tariff reduction or exemption, the exporter must apply to the Chinese Customs or CCPIT for a FORM U certificate, accompanied by commercial invoice, packing list, and other documents. Notes: The certificate must be issued before or at the time of export, and is usually valid for one year; the goods must comply with the rules of origin (such as wholly obtained or meeting the regional value content threshold); the certificate information must be consistent with the customs declaration and invoice, and must not be altered. Difference from other terms: FORM U applies only to China-Uruguay trade, unlike the Generalized System of Preferences certificate FORM A (applicable to GSP treatment granted by developed countries) or the China-ASEAN FORM E. Enterprises should accurately classify HS codes to avoid certificate rejection or loss of preferential treatment due to certificate errors.
