Top Board

Top Board is a foreign trade packaging term referring to the uppermost cover board inside a wooden crate, pallet, or container, used to seal and protect goods and enhance stacking strength. It is commonly used in the transport packaging of large goods such as heavy machinery and precision instruments. Usage scenarios include: 1) In wooden crate packaging, the top board must be nailed together with the side boards and bottom board to form an enclosed structure; 2) In pallet packaging, the top board serves as a separation layer between the goods and the upper pallet; 3) Inside containers, the top board can prevent the top of the goods from moisture or compression. Precautions: The material of the top board must comply with the quarantine requirements of the importing country (such as the ISPM15 standard), the thickness and load-bearing capacity must match the weight of the goods, and wood with insect damage or cracks should be avoided. Differences from other terms: The Bottom Board is located at the lowest layer, and the Side Board is located around the perimeter; the top board emphasizes top coverage, while the Cover Board may refer only to partial covering. Proper use of the top board can reduce cargo damage rates and ensure transport safety.
