Surrounding Board

Surrounding Board is a common term in foreign trade packaging and logistics, referring to boards used to reinforce, support, or isolate cargo, typically made of wood, plastic, or metal. In export operations, surrounding boards are often used around pallets, containers, or large equipment to prevent cargo from tilting, colliding, or scattering, and also to separate different batches or types of goods. Usage scenarios include: when exporting large machinery, installing surrounding boards around pallets to enhance stability; using surrounding boards inside containers to separate heavy cargo from light cargo to avoid crushing. Precautions: if made of wood, surrounding boards must comply with the ISPM15 international phytosanitary standard and bear the IPPC mark, otherwise they may be rejected by the importing country; surrounding boards themselves are not included in the net weight of the goods, but may affect gross weight and volume, and must be accurately declared in customs clearance and bills of lading. Difference from 'Baffle': baffles are mostly used to change the direction of fluids or particles, while surrounding boards focus on physical enclosure; difference from 'Dunnage': dunnage is used for bottom cushioning, while surrounding boards are used for perimeter protection.
