3-Ply Corrugated Board

3-Ply Corrugated Board is a common term in foreign trade packaging, referring to a corrugated structure composed of three layers of paperboard: one layer of linerboard, one layer of corrugated medium, and one layer of inner liner, totaling three layers, hence called 3-ply corrugated board (also known as single-wall corrugated board). Its thickness is typically between 1.5-3mm, with good compression resistance, cushioning, and lightweight properties, widely used for inner or outer packaging of small to medium-sized goods, such as electronics, toys, and daily necessities. Usage scenarios: In export customs declaration, packaging specification descriptions, and procurement contracts, the number of corrugated layers often needs to be specified to ensure transport safety and meet customer requirements. Precautions: 3-ply corrugated board differs significantly from 5-ply (double-wall) and 7-ply (triple-wall) board in strength, load-bearing capacity, and cost, and should be selected based on cargo weight, transport mode (sea, air), and stacking layers; also note different countries' environmental and quarantine requirements for packaging materials (e.g., fumigation certificates). Difference: 3-ply corrugated board is more pressure-resistant than single-layer solid board but less strong than 5-ply corrugated board, suitable for lightweight goods. In foreign trade, the English term should be used accurately to avoid confusion with '3-layer,' which may refer to three layers of solid board.
