Hanger Container

Hanger Container (also known as Garmentainer) is a type of special container used in foreign trade transportation, equipped with hanging rods and hooks inside to directly suspend clothing, textiles, and other goods, avoiding wrinkles caused by folding. Its main application scenarios are exporting high-end clothing, suits, dresses, and other goods with high requirements for flatness, commonly seen in sea and air freight. Precautions include: it must be booked in advance with the shipping company or freight forwarder, as the quantity is limited and the cost is higher than ordinary containers; goods need to be secured with hangers to prevent movement during transportation; hanger containers usually come in 20-foot and 40-foot specifications, with slight differences in load capacity and volume compared to ordinary containers. The difference from ordinary dry containers is that ordinary containers require clothing to be folded and packed, which easily causes wrinkles, while hanger containers can keep clothes in a suspended state, enhancing product added value. In addition, hanger containers are also different from refrigerated containers or open-top containers, as their core function is suspension rather than temperature control or top loading/unloading. Foreign trade practitioners should choose whether to use hanger containers based on cargo characteristics, cost budget, and delivery requirements, and specify the container type and cost sharing in the contract.
