Repair Delivery

Repair Delivery is a common term in foreign trade and international engineering contracting. It refers to the entire process of transporting goods, equipment, or parts that need repair from the place of use back to the supplier or manufacturer for repair, and then delivering them back to the original place of use after repair is completed. This term covers logistics, customs clearance, repair services, and re-delivery. Usage scenarios include: returning large mechanical equipment to the factory for repair due to failure, repair of exported products within the warranty period, cross-border after-sales repair services, etc. Notes: 1) The trade terms for repair delivery (such as DDP, DAP, etc.) must be clarified to allocate responsibilities for transportation, insurance, and tariffs; 2) Attention should be paid to temporary import/export customs declaration to avoid being charged full tariffs; 3) The repair cycle, cost bearing, and warranty scope should be stipulated in the contract. Differences from other terms: Unlike 'after-sales repair', repair delivery emphasizes the logistics action of 'delivery', involving cross-border round-trip transportation; unlike 'return shipment', return shipment may not be returned, while repair delivery usually requires return after repair. In addition, repair delivery may involve the 'temporary import/export' supervision mode, and enterprises need to operate in compliance.
