UL94 Rating

UL94 rating is a flammability safety standard for plastic materials established by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in the United States. It is used to evaluate indicators such as the burning rate of a material after ignition, self-extinguishing time, and whether dripping particles ignite cotton. Common ratings include HB, V-2, V-1, V-0, 5VB, and 5VA, among which V-0 is one of the highest vertical burning ratings. In foreign trade, this rating is often used in material specifications, procurement contracts, and quality inspection reports for products such as electronic and electrical appliances, automotive parts, and building materials, and is a key basis for buyers to judge the fire safety of products. Usage scenarios include: customers requiring a UL Yellow Card as proof, customs declaration requiring the material rating to be stated, and bidding requiring compliance with specific fire protection standards. Notes: UL94 only applies to the material itself and does not evaluate the overall fire performance of the finished product; test results may differ by thickness, so thickness must be specified; the rating must be tested by a UL-authorized laboratory with a report issued, and cannot be marked by oneself. It corresponds to standards such as GB/T 2408 and IEC 60695 but is not equivalent, and the locally recognized standard must be confirmed when exporting to different markets.
