Wear Resistance

Wear resistance refers to the ability of a material to resist mechanical wear and is a key indicator for measuring product durability. It is widely used in industries such as textiles, rubber, plastics, metals, coatings, and composite materials. In foreign trade, wear resistance is often a core parameter in quality clauses and directly affects product pricing, acceptance standards, and customer satisfaction. Usage scenarios include: contract technical annexes, quality inspection reports, product specifications, and letter of credit requirements. Note: Different industries use different testing standards for wear resistance, such as the Martindale method for textiles, Akron abrasion for rubber, and pin-on-disc testing for metals. The testing method and acceptance threshold must be clearly specified in the contract to avoid disputes caused by differences in standards. Unlike terms such as 'hardness' and 'strength,' wear resistance focuses on the surface's ability to resist wear rather than overall mechanical performance. In addition, higher wear resistance is not always better; it must be balanced with cost and application. Foreign trade practitioners should be familiar with the regulations and industry standards of the target market, such as EU EN, US ASTM, and international ISO standards, and provide authoritative test reports during the sample confirmation stage.
