Payment Handling Fee refers to the service fee charged by banks or third-party payment institutions for processing order payments (such as wire transfers, letters of credit, documentary collections, credit cards, etc.) in international trade. This fee is usually borne by the payer or agreed upon by both buyer and seller, and is common in small transactions or specific payment methods (such as credit cards, PayPal). Usage scenarios include: wire transfer fees charged by banks when the buyer pays via bank wire; notification fees, negotiation fees, etc. charged by banks when using letters of credit; or transaction fees charged by online payment platforms. Precautions: Both parties should clearly specify in the contract who bears the handling fee to avoid disputes; fees vary greatly among different payment methods, e.g., wire transfer fees are usually borne by the remitter but can also be agreed to be borne by the beneficiary; handling fees may affect the actual amount received, so costs should be considered when quoting. Differences from other terms: Unlike 'commission,' a handling fee is a payment service charge, not compensation for sales agency; it overlaps with 'bank charges,' but bank charges are broader, including account management fees, etc. Foreign trade practitioners need to clearly state this in quotations and contracts to prevent profit loss.
