Maintenance Manual

A Maintenance Manual is a common technical document in international trade, referring to the instruction book delivered with equipment, machinery, or electronic products to guide users in routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair operations. Its use scenarios include: when exporting large equipment, precision instruments, engineering machinery, etc., it serves as a contractually agreed accompanying document; in letter of credit or documentary collection transactions, it is often listed as one of the shipping documents and must be submitted together with the bill of lading, invoice, packing list, etc. Precautions: the language, number of copies, and depth of content of the maintenance manual must strictly comply with the contract or letter of credit, otherwise it may constitute a discrepancy; some countries require the manual to be in the official language or bilingual; if intellectual property or technical secrets are involved, confidentiality clauses must be stipulated in the contract. The difference from an 'Operation Manual' is that the operation manual focuses on daily use and operating procedures, while the maintenance manual focuses on fault diagnosis, parts replacement, and maintenance cycles; it is also different from a 'Parts Catalog,' which only lists part numbers and illustrations and does not provide repair steps. Foreign trade practitioners should ensure that the manual content is accurate, the version is up to date, and it matches the equipment model, to avoid claims or returns caused by manual errors.
