ISO 9001

ISO 9001 is a Quality Management System (QMS) standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), officially titled 'Quality management systems — Requirements'. It is not a product-specific quality standard, but a certification of an organization's overall quality management processes, applicable to organizations of any size and industry. In foreign trade, ISO 9001 certification is often used by overseas buyers as a mandatory threshold for supplier screening, especially in Europe, North America, and large multinational procurement; holding this certificate can significantly enhance bidding qualifications and customer trust. Use cases include: customer factory audits, bidding documents, contract attachments, product promotion, etc. Note: The certificate must be issued by an accredited certification body and requires regular surveillance audits (usually annually), with a three-year validity period; companies should ensure the certification scope covers actual export products to avoid the risk of 'certificate scope mismatch'. Unlike ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), ISO 9001 focuses on quality processes; compared to product certifications (e.g., CE, UL), it does not directly prove product compliance but demonstrates a company's ability to consistently provide conforming products. Therefore, in foreign trade, ISO 9001 is often used in conjunction with product certifications to fully meet customer requirements.
