Phytosanitary Certificate

Phytosanitary Certificate is an official document issued by the official plant quarantine authority of the exporting country (such as the General Administration of Customs of China) in accordance with the requirements of the importing country, certifying that the goods (usually plants, plant products, seeds, timber, etc.) are free from pests and comply with the plant quarantine regulations of the importing country. Use cases: When exporting agricultural products, flowers, timber, etc., importers often require this certificate for customs clearance. Precautions: The certificate must be issued before shipment, its validity period is usually short (e.g., 10-14 days), and its contents must strictly match the letter of credit and invoice; requirements may vary by country (e.g., fumigation treatment requirements). Difference from "Fumigation Certificate": The latter certifies that fumigation treatment has been carried out, while the phytosanitary certificate is a comprehensive health certificate; Difference from "Certificate of Origin": The latter certifies the nationality of the goods and does not involve quarantine. Foreign trade practitioners need to confirm the requirements of the importing country in advance to avoid return shipments or fines caused by missing or incorrect certificates.
