The extended hours aim to accommodate students' diverse schedules, while the quiet floor will provide a distraction-free environment for focused work. The library will also increase security staffing during overnight hours.

M: Did you see the announcement about the library? I think it's great, especially the 24-hour option during the week. I often pull all-nighters before exams, and having a quiet place to study would be a lifesaver. W: True, but I'm worried about the quiet floor. I mean, sometimes I need to discuss ideas with classmates, and the regular floors can get noisy. Where are we supposed to go for group projects? M: Well, the regular floors are still there, and you can book group study rooms. Actually, I think the quiet floor is a smart move—it separates those who need silence from those who want to collaborate. That reduces conflicts. W: I guess that makes sense. But I'm still concerned about the extra cost for security. Do you think the university will cut other services to pay for it? M: They said they'd use part of the student activity fee, and they're also saving on energy by closing some underused buildings at night. So I doubt they'll cut other services. W: Okay, I hadn't thought of that. I'm starting to like the idea more. I do tend to study better in a quiet zone.
