托福口语 Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend the library's opening hours from 10 PM to 2 AM on weekdays during exam periods. The extension aims to provide more study space for students. To fund this, the university will reduce the number of print copies of popular journals and increase the digital subscription instead.

M: Did you see the announcement about the library staying open later during finals? I think it's a great idea. W: Really? I'm not so sure. I mean, most students don't even use the library after midnight. Wouldn't it be better to just have more study rooms during the day? M: But some students, like me, are night owls. I always have to leave at 10 PM when I'm in the zone. Plus, during finals, the library is packed even at night. W: I get that, but cutting the print journals is a big downside. Many of us in the humanities still prefer browsing physical copies for research. Digital versions sometimes miss important illustrations and layouts. M: True, but I rarely use print journals. And having a quiet place to study late is more valuable to me. Also, the digital library is more accessible from anywhere, so it's a fair trade-off.
