Today in our environmental science lecture, we will discuss the impact of urban development on local wildlife. One key example is the red fox population in London. Initially, foxes adapted well to city life, finding food in bins and parks. However, recent studies show that increased traffic and habitat fragmentation have led to a decline in their numbers, especially in densely built areas. Interestingly, fox populations have stabilized in suburbs where gardens provide shelter. So, while urban foxes are resilient, their survival depends on the availability of green spaces and reduced human disturbance.
