Today in our archaeology lecture, we'll discuss the discovery of a Bronze Age settlement in southern England. The site was first identified by aerial photography in the 1970s, but excavation only began in 2005. Researchers found circular houses made of wood and thatch, along with pottery and tools. Interestingly, the settlement was surrounded by a large ditch, likely for defense. Radiocarbon dating suggests the main occupation lasted from 1500 to 1300 BC. However, evidence of a later, smaller occupation around 1000 BC was also found. The site is considered significant because it provides rare insights into daily life during that period.
