The researchers found that people who lived within 300 meters of a park or garden reported significantly lower levels of stress and anxiety. Interestingly, the size of the green space mattered less than its accessibility. Even small community gardens had a positive effect, but only if they were well-maintained and safe to visit. The study also noted that the benefits were stronger for older participants, particularly those over 65, who spent more time outdoors. So, while we often focus on large parks, small local green areas may be just as crucial for well-being.
