Today we're discussing the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 500 residents over three years. Participants who visited parks at least twice a week reported significantly lower stress levels compared to those who rarely went. Interestingly, the size of the green space mattered less than the frequency of visits. Even small community gardens showed benefits. The study also found that people who exercised in parks, like jogging or cycling, gained extra mood improvements. However, simply sitting and reading in a park also helped, though to a lesser extent. The researchers suggest that city planners should prioritize easy access to any green area, not just large ones.
