Researchers monitored the behavior of possums in urban parks over a two-year period. They found that possums in city areas were more active at night compared to those in rural areas. This shift is likely due to the presence of artificial lighting and human activity during the day. Interestingly, the urban possums also had a more varied diet, including food scraps from bins. However, their body weight was significantly lower, suggesting higher stress levels. The study concluded that while some species adapt to urban environments, these adaptations come with health costs.
