However, this effect is strongest when the park area exceeds 2 hectares and includes a mix of trees and water features. Interestingly, the cooling benefit extends only about 100 meters beyond the park boundary. The researchers also noted that maintenance costs are often underestimated, especially for irrigation and pruning. They recommend prioritizing small, well-connected green corridors over a single large park, as they provide better access for residents and wildlife alike.
