Today we're discussing the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 500 residents over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park reported significantly lower stress levels. Interestingly, the size of the green space mattered less than its accessibility. Those who visited parks at least once a week showed a 20% reduction in anxiety symptoms. However, the effect was strongest among people aged 40 to 60. The study also noted that community gardens had a similar benefit, but only when they were well-maintained and safe.
