Today, in our environmental science lecture, we'll discuss the impact of urban green spaces. Recent studies show that parks and community gardens can reduce city temperatures by up to 3 degrees Celsius. Additionally, they improve air quality and encourage physical activity. However, the key finding is that the presence of trees is less important than the total area of greenery. For instance, a small park with dense shrubs can be as effective as a large lawn with scattered trees. We must prioritize creating interconnected green networks, not just isolated patches. This approach also benefits urban wildlife, allowing species to move safely between habitats.
