Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 2,000 adults over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park or garden reported significantly lower levels of stress and anxiety. Interestingly, the size of the green space mattered less than its accessibility. Even small pocket parks had positive effects if they were easy to reach on foot. The study also found that benefits were stronger for people who visited these areas at least once a week, regardless of the duration of each visit. So, it's not just having green spaces nearby, but actively using them that makes a difference.
