Commercial Seal

A Commercial Seal refers to a seal applied by the shipper, carrier, or their agent to transport units such as containers, trucks, or air boxes during the transportation of goods, to indicate that the goods have not been opened or tampered with while the seal remains intact. It typically contains a unique serial number or barcode and is recorded in documents such as bills of lading, waybills, or packing lists. Usage scenarios include: the exporter applies the seal after packing the container themselves and hands it over to the carrier for transport; or the carrier applies the seal after receiving the goods to clarify the division of responsibility. Precautions: A commercial seal is different from a Customs Seal, which is applied by customs to supervise bonded goods or transit transport and has legal force, whereas a commercial seal mainly serves as commercial proof and anti-theft. In addition, the consignee should check whether the seal is intact when picking up the goods. If there is any abnormality, they should immediately take photos and notify the relevant parties; otherwise, it may affect claims. Compared with a 'Security Seal', a commercial seal focuses more on commercial processes, while a security seal emphasizes anti-tampering and anti-terrorism, commonly seen in international supply chain security requirements.
