Flat Rack Container

Flat Rack Container is a type of special container with no roof and no side walls, featuring only a floor and two end walls (collapsible). It is specifically designed for oversized, overweight, or irregularly shaped cargo. Its use cases include: large machinery and equipment, vehicles, steel, timber, yachts, engineering components, and other cargo that cannot be loaded into standard containers. Precautions: 1) Cargo must be securely lashed to the container floor using binding straps, wire ropes, etc., to prevent movement during transit; 2) It is necessary to confirm whether the cargo dimensions exceed the allowable range of the flat rack (typically length ≤ 6 m, width ≤ 2.4 m, height ≤ 2.6 m, but over-width and over-height are permitted); 3) Over-limit cargo may require applying for special stowage space or deck transport; 4) Freight rates are usually higher than those for standard containers, and an oversize surcharge may be applied. Differences from standard containers: Standard containers have a roof and side walls, providing fully enclosed protection; flat racks have no covering, leaving cargo exposed, but offer flexible loading and unloading, making them suitable for heavy and large items. Differences from open-top containers: Open-top containers have side walls but no roof, making them suitable for tall cargo loaded from the top; flat racks are completely open, making them suitable for over-width and over-height cargo loaded from the side or top.
